Alita Girl is a cyborg, that is, an advanced robot with a human brain. Created 300 years ago, she was found in a junkyard by Dr Ido (Christoph Waltz) and restored to her original form. The same goes for the film.
I was not expecting anything
Alita was directed by Robert
Rodriguez from a screenplay by James Cameron and Laeta Kalogridis. This sci-fi
cyberpunk (I can't help but laugh at this term) adventure is based on a comic
book and starts with familiar characters. I cannot comment on its accuracy, but
if you look at the score, it seems very carefully crafted. There is a good
level of detail, good pacing, clever twists and subtle foreshadowing, but I was
not expecting much.
Main
character
The world, the plot, the tone,
the characters, and the heart and soul of the story, are all decidedly Japanese. The
main character, played by Rosa Salazar, is a businesswoman. I only know her
from the TV series The Maze Runner, but she was good, although I didn't think
she was a very good performance in this film. Then, when I saw the trailer for
Alita, I questioned her authenticity, character, and design, which led me to
watch the movie. A series of films followed, and my doubts proved unfounded.
My brain believed in the canon
I tried to imagine the pyjamas,
but my brain believed most of it and I had to change direction to confirm that
it was wrong. This is especially true when a living person can touch you, feel
your weight and presence. I have always been fascinated by the continuing
evolution of motion capture. But I am even more fascinated by character
sketches. If I were 13 years old, I could send this film to my 13-year-old
daughter, because she would fall in love with this film and the girl who made
it.
My favourite part became clear when she said
that
Alita is naive, kind, intense,
confident and absolutely adorable. She was a little awkward at the time, but my
favourite aspect of her personality emerged when she said, "You either give
it all or you give nothing." You either love someone with all your
strength or you put them down, and there is no middle ground. You have chosen
wisely who falls into which category. He has flaws and obstacles to overcome,
but he also has an interesting birth story. The balance between his gentle
smile and an open heart (sometimes literally) and his ruthless attitude and
unwavering determination was impressive.
Video editing
As a 13-year-old girl, I needed a
model for this story. Eventually, the flashing eyes of the trailer became part
of the music video. When I realized this, I began to understand the care with
which the video was made: she and her video are no accident, but whoever
decided to include her material in a film of this size must have known her well
and understood her meaning. The intensive use of mocap was not a poor excuse;
it was fundamental to the whole project.
The fate of women's love and
now women's rights
The characters surrounding Alita
are the mainstays of the story, and their roles are very detailed and
interesting. I didn't like Christoph Waltz's character (although he often plays
black characters) and I found that the love interest wasn't there just for the
sake of it. This is a common fate for women in movies, but feminism has solved
this problem. Hugo (Kian Johnson) isn't non-existent when he's not around
Alita, he's important to the plot, but he's also loveable. He's a character
and, surprisingly, he and Alita have great chemistry.
He's a villain that needs to
be fought
His story is funny, sweet, and
touching all at the same time, and there's really something there. Aida is also
a very interesting film, with great twists and painful conflicts. Like a
rebellious teenager. These three are the heart of the film. Keep it up,
Mahershala.
The good you do is not for
others
Even parents who don't like the
film will love its impressive visual effects and action sequences. To be
honest, I was expecting large-scale fights, but I was pleasantly surprised by
the small-scale static battles. The main event is a racy sport called moto bola,
which looks like a mix of roller field hockey and basketball on the famous
NASCAR circuit. There's a ferocity to the game that reminds me of a few Speed
Racers, and I think it suited my speed because there was a lot of one-on-one
play. I was young and it quickly became personal. The violence is even faster:
the depiction of violence aimed at 13+ is shocking from start to finish, and
forces you to make important decisions that you can't go back on. And it makes
you brave.
Their track record may be
weaker than my money
They do things I don't want to
do, accept me for it, and earn my respect. It's more a matter of personal taste
than actual lack, but I see some things I'd like to see more of. Alita feels
like it was made with a very large budget, and while I liked the more intimate
plot, I think the visuals could have been more substantial. The graphics are
clean and clearly cybernetic, but a cleaner style and more impressive visuals
would have made this film an interesting story, full of likeable characters, and
an absolute sci-fi trilogy.
The budget could have prevented that
But if the budget was off, the funding was off in general. I expected a sequel and I expected more. I'm tired of movies that only exist for sequels, but I don't mind, so I'm looking forward to this one. 9kmovies is a new free entertainment portal where you can download Bollywood and Hollywood movies in high quality. The movie is a birth story, and without that first chapter, the movie could not exist. The film feels like something bigger is happening, but the film stands on its own two feet and has a coherent plot. It carefully builds the emotional journey and development of the characters and relationships, without leaving any loose ends.
